Claran Martin
"We’ve just had the greatest experience with MFC,” says Claran Martin, EMCC Regional Minister serving church communities in Ontario and Eastern Canada. "There are no quotas for the MFC consultants to fill, so they come with your interests in mind and God’s interests in mind. If there’s any agenda they have, it’s a biblical agenda—it’s the heart of God for the spiritual responsibilities we have with the resources we’ve been given.”
As a pastor and now as regional minister, Claran is grateful for the specific knowledge and advice that MFC has to offer. "I can talk about stewardship and biblical principles, but I certainly don’t know the details of wills, tax laws, estate planning ideas and strategies as they apply to charitable giving. The consultants are very professional and caring. You know they have the expertise. They’re going to speak in a way you can understand, without a lot of jargon. They’ll take the time to explain.”
Claran continues, "One of the advantages is that sometimes it’s helpful for people to talk to someone who is not a part of the church or even part of the local community—especially when talking about personal financial matters which are very private. I don’t have to know what their issues are, but I do know they’re getting good professional advice and encouragement.”
"MFC is really different from any other group that we have come to the church. Quite often, organizations come into the church looking for something for themselves. When the Foundation comes, they come with something to give and to add to the lives of our people.”
