Stable in Turbulent Times
Erwin Warkentin, General Manager
Pick up a newspaper, turn on the TV or enter into a conversation with friends, and the topic of financial doom and gloom will likely be front and centre. At MFC we have also heard these stories and have had clients and supporters call to ask how we are doing. If we read between the lines, we can almost hear the question, "Is MFC on a firm financial footing?” Thank you for your concern! While we are not completely immune to the gyrations in the financial markets, we are happy to report that our operations are solid.
Our history of positive asset growth continues. Over the ten months
ending October 31, 2008 our asset base has grown 3.93% to just over
$100 million. Our stewardship ministry continues to be in high demand.
We are adding an additional consultant to our Alberta office to service
the growing
opportunities in that region. Generous donors continue to use MFC
to accomplish their charitable goals. Our distributions to charity are
on target to exceed the record $8.1 million we distributed in 2007.
At the end of the day it is the trust and support of our clients that allows us to achieve these goals. Due to the foresight of our Board of Directors, we have reserve funds to support our operations during challenging financial times such as this. We give thanks to God for the guidance and wisdom that have resulted in the strong and vibrant organization we are today, and we give thanks to God for your continued support of MFC.
