Ontario Student Bursary

This fund was set up by interested Goshen College Alumni who want to encourage Ontario students to study at Goshen College. Goshen College is a Mennonite college in the USA and is within a seven-hour drive of south-western Ontario. Several factors have caused fewer Ontario students to study at Goshen, even though the College provides incentives to attract Canadian students (e.g. the matching of congregational student aid funds up to $500).

Any qualifying Ontario student is welcome to apply for a bursary. Income from the ONTARIO STUDENT BURSARY FUND will be granted to one or more students each year as an encouragement for them to consider studying at Goshen College.

Grant Application Guidelines:

Applicants are required to meet the following criteria to qualify:
  • must be an Ontario resident
  • must be attending a Mennonite church in Ontario
  • must be accepted or enrolled as a full-time student at Goshen College

Applications from students desiring to study at Goshen College, 700 South Main Street, Goshen, Indiana, USA, will receive first priority in the selection process. If no student associated with Goshen College applies to the fund for two consecutive years, the Grants Committee may offer grants to students attending Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary, and failing that to other Mennonite post-secondary schools in the USA. At such time thereafter that the committee receives an application from a student desiring to attend Goshen College, that application shall take precedence above all other applications.

Grant applications will be received any time up to June 30. Applicants will be notified in writing as to the decisions made by the Grants Committee by July 31. Click here for a grant application or by contacting  Mennonite Foundation of Canada, 50 Kent Avenue, Kitchener, Ontario, N2G 3R1. Completed applications may be faxed or returned by mail to the Mennonite Foundation of Canada, 50 Kent Avenue, Kitchener, Ontario, N2G 3R1. Fax applications to (519) 745-8940.

Please note, due to technical difficulties, the email button on the form is not functioning properly. Applications sent by email may not be received correctly.

The maximum grant to any one applicant shall be $500 and shall be paid in Canadian dollars. (Applicants receiving grants will get a T4A slip for income tax purposes.) If more than one applicant qualifies for a bursary in any given year, the amount available to grant for that year shall be divided equally among the qualified applicants, up to a maximum of $500 each.
