November 2008- Stable in Turbulent Times

Stable in Turbulent Times

It is November, and Advent is just around the corner.

Advent- a time of waiting, preparing, anticipation. Do you find yourself anticipating or dreading the coming season? There is much talk these days about getting back to the real meaning of Advent and Christmas and to reducing the commercialism and the buying craze. Many people use an MFC Gifting Account as a means to simplify their giving and make room for other things, like contemplating the “Reason for the Season.” To learn more about making more room for family and faith, call your local consultant and ask how how an MFC Gifting Account can simplify your giving this season.

MFC stable in turbulent times.

Pick up a newspaper, turn on the TV or enter into a conversation with friends and the topic of financial doom and gloom will likely be front and centre. At MFC we have also heard these stories and have had clients and supporters call to ask how we are doing. Reading between the lines, we can almost hear the question, “Is MFC on a firm financial footing?” Follow this link to read the response from MFC General Manager, Erwin Warkentin.

A model of generosity.

At MFC we are mourning the untimely loss of our colleague and good friend, Edwin Friesen, who passed away on October 23, 2008. Edwin worked with MFC for 13 years as a stewardship consultant, giving shape to that role within the organization. Although he was based in the Winnipeg office, Edwin worked with clients and congregations throughout Manitoba and Saskatchewan, nurturing relationships wherever he was.
