MFC announces new Consultant serving British Columbia

MENNONITE FOUNDATION OF CANADA is pleased to welcome Arnold K. Friesen to their Abbotsford, B.C. office as their newest stewardship consultant. Arnie brings with him 24 years of management and senior academic administrative experience. He’s been Director of Admissions and Enrolment for several educational institutions, most recently for Canada Institute of Linguistics at Trinity Western University.


"It is with a keen sense of anticipation that I accepted the Stewardship Consultant position in Abbotsford,” says Arnie. "I am firmly convinced that this position will harmonize with my personal goal of elevating my contribution to the Christian community to the next level. MFC Executive announces new Executive Director

The Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Darren Pries-Klassen as Executive Director of Mennonite Foundation of Canada effectively immediately. Darren succeeds Erwin Warkentin who served MFC since 2005 and is now Director of Strategic Initiatives at Canadian Mennonite University.

Darren worked as an MFC consultant beginning in 1998 when he was hired to open the Niagara office in St. Catharines. "Darren has served MFC in an exemplary manner over many years”, says Board Chair Lloyd Plett. "We are confident that his experience, education and leadership qualities make him well suited to lead a growing team and organization into the future. We congratulate Darren on this appointment and wish him God's rich blessings."

When asked to comment, Pries-Klassen stated, "I am excited to take on this new role at MFC. What sets us apart from most other foundations is our commitment to biblical stewardship education. MFC Consultant Sherri Grosz attending Mennonite World Conference as a youth sponsor

July 2009- Paraguay

For 3 weeks, Sherri Grosz, MFC Consultant in our Kitchener, Ontario office, and her husband Rob are attending the Mennonite World Conference in Asuncion, Paraguay along with 35 youth and 7 other adults from Mennonite Church Eastern Canada.
"We leave on July 8 from Toronto and fly to Buenos Aires, Argentina and then to Asuncion, Paraguay.  We will volunteer at KM81 Leprosy Hospital in Paraguay from July 10-13 and will also have opportunity to worship with a local Spanish church on the Sunday.  We will attend Mennonite World Conference in Asuncion, Paraguay from July 14-19.  July 20-26 will include some tourist stops as we travel from Asuncion, Paraguay to Rio de Janiero, Brazil including Iguacu Falls, Witmarsum Colony, and Cristo Redentor (Christ the Redeemer statue).  We leave Rio de Janiero, Brazil on July 26 and land in Toronto on the 27th. We welcome your prayers for the safe travel and learning experiences that will shape the lives of this group in ways yet unimagined."

The Spirit of Generosity Award provides an annual prize of $450 to one student in each of 13 Christian secondary and post secondary schools, colleges and universities related to MFC’s participating conferences across Canada.
